What we do

VoteShield helps election officials in the United States keep voter data safe from interference, errors, and misinterpretation.

How we do it

Voter files are publicly available records containing non-sensitive information on all registered voters in a particular state. States own and maintain this data, which allows election officials to properly administer primary and general elections. Commonly, political parties and campaigns request files to facilitate voter outreach. VoteShield requests data through the same mechanisms available to the general public — paying the same fees where applicable.

How election professionals at the county and state level are using VoteShield.

‘‘VoteShield is an important component to help us ensure the integrity of Iowa’s voter data and elections. The system is available for all 99 county auditors to use. Auditors know their counties best, so if an anomaly is detected, they are able to investigate it themselves.’’
Paul Pate, Iowa Secretary of State
‘‘VoteShield offers an unparalleled external analysis of changes to voter rolls, which ensures that large scale voter registration irregularities are not occurring, and if they were, that we would detect them.’’
Jonathan Brater, Director of the Michigan Bureau of Elections
